RENDEZVOUS
What is Rendezvous you might ask? Well, let me enlighten you. It's not, as some people would believe, reenacting. I like to think that
it's folks spending their weekends actually living history. It's spending time with family and friends, attired in the clothes that our forefathers
would have worn in the 1700 and 1800's and participating in events that they would have also participated in without all the modern
conveniences that clutter our present day lives. No phones, no electricity, no microwave ovens, no air conditioners ( although that is one item
I do miss). We cook over open fires and live in tipi's or wall tents. I think my favorite times are the evenings when we gather around the
campfire with our friends and laugh and tell stories until the fire dies down. Rendezvous folks are the greatest people you will ever run across.
We've developed some deep and lasting friendships with people that we've met at Rendezvous. Birds of a feather, flock together as they say
and Sal and I, along with our friends, do indeed flock together. We set up next to each other at Rendezvous and have formed an informal club.
We call ourselves the TURTLE CLAN and have developed some clan rules, secret greeting signs, special handshakes, and other assorted
tomfoolery. The ladies have made matching skirts and shawls. These are all multi-talented women and have skills in inkle looming, sewing,
cooking, quilt making, shooting, cannon firing, beading, etc. etc.
The Turtle Brothers, what can I say about them that hasn't already been written on the outhouse walls. Just kidding? All kidding aside, these
are a great bunch of guys. These guys are also very talented and can shoot, tell stories (especially GATOR), make things out of wood, leather-
work, inkle looming, blacksmithing ( BUCKO is the Master blacksmith), and know a heck of a lot about History.
